The brilliant Scottish Classical Guitarist Matthew
McAllister (lecturer at the Royal Conservatoire in
Glasgow), who runs the Classical Guitar Festival 'Classical Guitar Retreat', recently came to visit me in the workshop. We had been chatting since November 2023, put in touch after my mentor Michael Ritchie recommended me for Matthews upcoming competition. With the idea that I will make the 1st prize Classical Guitar for a competition at this years Retreat
(in July), this competition will be open to
upcoming musicians who will have to put forth
their entries and then a small selection will go to the festival for the final. For entry details follow: https://cgretreat.com/competitions The guitar I am making is a traditional 650mm
scale Classical, European Spruce top,
Indian Rosewood back/sides, Cedar neck,
Indian Rosewood bridge, fingerboard and headplate.
With Irving Sloane machine heads.
Made using the Spanish construction methods
I utilise in my craft. While Matthew was visiting,
we filmed an interview and Matthew tried
out my latest guitar, I will embed the interview below:
