Half way through 2026 already!

This has been an absolute manic year so far, guitar orders are flying and repairs just keep coming in. Apologies if you have been on my repair waiting list, it is taking me a while to get through it. Or if you have guitars in for repair, they are sometimes taking a while to get finished.

This is just a general update of my year so far. I have just finished two guitars, one is a custom order, my Nylon Hybrid model, this specific iteration of the model leans to more of a Classical guitar with a cutaway basically. This guitar will be collected towards the end of July and I am hoping to get a wee recording with it before then. I have also just finished a Classical guitar (see photos in this blog) that will be coming with me to the 'Classical Guitar Retreat 2026' in St Andrews next week (7th-13th), if you are attending the festival come and say hi. I am also taking my wee recording kit with me to the festival so you may see the recordings of the guitars I have with me on YouTube too.

So this guitar is a traditionally built, 650mm scale Classical, 7 fan braces, I took my bracing a bit lighter than I typically go on this one. With a bearclaw Spruce top, inlaid with a square motif theme in the rosette, purflings and bridge tieblock. It also has a 4 piece Ziricote back and sides, with a center stripe of Ebony too. All bound in Ebony.

This guitar is a stunner. I am really happy with how the whole guitar has come together, the back, the binding, the square design motifs, it all just works. I also have used Barnett custom machine heads, which feel great. These are made by Kris Barnett in Germany and they are precision engineered by a renowned guitar maker. The design of these perfectly tie in with the overall look of the guitar and I have even used brass tubing for fret markers on the 5th/7th fretboard edge to tie in with the tuners too. Overall I am very happy with this guitar, I have priced it at £4900 although if you are attending the festival for that week I am doing a special festival 10% off all available stock and 10% off new commissions if ordering a guitar at the festival. I will also have a Cedar top with Indian Rosewood back and sides Classical with me too, this one is prcied at £4000.

In other news I just did another Workshop Sessions video with Jack Rowberry, a local guitarist/singer/songwriter. In the video he is playing my largest Steel String model 'MBG-S03', this specific guitar is listed on my available guitars page. It has a Spruce top with Mahogany back and sides. The Mahogany all comes from at least the 1960s! He plays his own song 'Chasing Stones', it's a great tune and it was a lovely wee afternoon in the worskhop.
